A touch of red: Suzhou's most beautiful persimmon trees

Nov 09, 2025

Suzhou

Among the seasonal delights of fall, few are as fiery as persimmons. Their heavy clusters bend the branches low, glowing like lanterns that brighten gardens, courtyards, and hillsides. Here are some of the most Instagrammable persimmon trees in Suzhou you shouldn't miss.

Daoqian Street
By Daoqian Street道前街 and across Suzhou Municipal Hospital蘇州市立醫(yī)院(本部) stands a persimmon tree that is one of the biggest stars in Suzhou this fall. Grown next to a small bridge and flowing water, it feels like the final touch in an ink-and-wash painting.

Beisi Pagoda
Take the escalator out of Exit 4 of Beisita Metro Station北寺塔-4東北口 and you will spot the famous persimmon tree right away. Though it lost some branches in last year's typhoon, new beauty is quietly taking shape among its twigs.

Yiyuan Garden
In Suzhou classical gardens, persimmon trees always provide some nice touches - just like the one in Yiyuan Garden怡園. If you are lucky, you can even come across a cat tiptoeing on the branches.

Lingering Garden
The arrival of fall in Lingering Garden留園 is heralded by four persimmon trees. Three are situated in the western Shepu Garden and one next to the Miniascape Garden.

Shangjinqiao Xiatang
The persimmon tree上津橋下塘 peeks out of the top of a white wall, forming a perfect composition. Just lift your phone and a natural painting of fall in Jiangnan region is yours.

Of course, persimmons aren't just for admiring. They are delicious too. Baked, made into desserts, or brewed into tea, there are endless ways to enjoy them. But remember, as sweet as they are, don't overindulge!
