With music as a bridge, the centuries-old Geneva State Wind Orchestra (OHGe) collaborated with top musicians in a unique performance at Gulangyu Concert Hall in Xiamen, Southeast China's Fujian province, marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and China and the Sino-Swiss year of culture and tourism.
The concert was jointly conducted by Zhao Yuan, a famous violin educator committed to promoting cultural exchanges between the two countries, and Jean Christophe Monnier, a well-known music director with profound effect in classical music. What's more, Chinese singers Wang Yaohong and Peng Tian also brought emotional depth to the performance.?
As a major cultural ceremony, the concert deftly integrated the essence of Chinese and Western music and created a sonic feast that transcended national borders.
The OHGe rendered classics embodying the emotion and memories of the Chinese nation, including the Ode to the Red Flag, March of the Liberation Army and March of Steel Torrent. The Waves of Gulangyu was also performed.?
The OHGe has tied China and Switzerland with their splendid performances, injecting new international energy into the music culture on Gulangyu Island.
