"New quality talent" is a key driver for the development of new quality productive forces. The recently released 2024 Chinese City New Quality Talent Competitiveness Index Report includes seven Jiangsu cities in its top 50 list. The ranking, jointly published by Peking University's Sustainability Research Institute and Zhaopin Limited, is based on four aspects: talent supply, demand, attraction, and the talent ecosystem.

Nanjing ranked 6th, showcasing robust strength in talent supply and a favorable ecosystem for talent development . Among the new quality talents in Nanjing, 4% hold master's or doctoral degrees, placing the city just behind Beijing (11%), Shanghai (7%), and Shenzhen (6%). In recent years, Nanjing has focused on addressing matters such as housing, children's education, and healthcare, with particular attention to "key groups" including academicians, experts, and young professionals, enabling them to devote themselves wholeheartedly to innovation and creation.

Suzhou ranked 8th, Wuxi 10th, Changzhou 21st, Nantong 34th, Xuzhou 40th, and Yangzhou 45th. Jiangsu and Zhejiang are the two provinces with the most cities in the top 50 list.

The report's comprehensive evaluation covered 296 cities nationwide, focusing on emerging fields such as next-generation information technology, new energy, and high-end equipment. It provides an important reference for regions seeking to optimize talent policies.
