China-Malaysia Mutual Visa-Free Agreement Takes Effect Today

The Agreement Between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of Malaysia on Mutual Visa Exemption for Holders of Passports for Public Affairs and Ordinary Passports took effect today ( July 17 ).

According to the agreement, holders of valid Chinese passports for public affairs and ordinary passports, and Malaysian ordinary passports may enter, exit, or transit the territory of the other contracting country visa-free for purposes including tourism, family reunions, visits to friends, business activities, exchange visits, private affairs, medical treatment, or/and international transport (for flight crews), provided they will not stay for more than 30 days per visit, and have not stayed for more than 90 days within any 180-day period .

For anyone who intends to stay during a single trip for more than 30 days , seeks settlement, or needs to engage in an activity (such as employment, studying, or news coverage) requiring a prior approval from the competent authority(-ies) of the other contracting country, a corresponding visa must be obtained prior to entry.
