Established in accordance with Japanese educational regulations and the Course of Study, and recognized by the Japanese Ministry of Culture, it functions as an overseas educational facility offering curricula equivalent to elementary and middle schools in Japan. Tianjin Japanese School was founded in April 1999 in the Jiuhe International Village on Weiguo Road, Hedong District, Tianjin. On August 15, 2006, the school relocated to Lingshijun, Shuanggang Town, Jinnan District. In September 2021, it moved to its current address at Building 10, Longcui Plaza, Intersection of Zhonghuan East Road and East Fifth Avenue, Airport Economic Area. In November 2017, the institution was renamed Tianjin Japanese School.
