Here the welcoming speech is in Sinhala! Sri Lankan joint press corps visits Guangzhou

Nov 27, 2025

Guangzhou

A delegation of twelve journalists from Sri Lanka’s mainstream media outlets visited Guangzhou Media Center on November 25. They enjoyed the view of the Pearl River on the viewing platform atop the building and engaged in  dialogues with their counterparts from Guangzhou Daily about media development.

"Welcome remarks in Sinhala!" The delegation was instantly drawn to this warm greeting upon visiting Liede International Neighbourhood. This thoughtful detail immediately made the international guests feel "right at home"!

Liede International Neighbourhood, situated in the heart of Guangzhou's Tianhe District, is not only a renowned model of urban renewal but also a diverse global hub. It brings together friends from around the world, offering one-stop multilingual information services and hosting a variety of cultural exchange activities, successfully creating a vibrant and integrated living environment. As a shining "new name card" of Guangzhou, it also serves as an ideal window for the international community to observe Chinese urban community governance and development.

Dulma Kandaramage, a member of the media delegation on her first visit to China, repeatedly expressed admiration during the tour. "I was amazed by China's development. There is so much we can learn from China in terms of development and governance!" She remarked that the advanced concept of Liede International Neighbourhood is enlightening, showcasing not only the openness and inclusivity of China but also its bright prospects, which bolstered her confidence in the future of Sri Lanka-China relations.
