Xiamen city officials announced during a recap of Xiamen's development in the last five years that it is now home to 23,500 hospital beds. During the past five years Xiamen has gained five national-level and 48 provincial-level key clinical specialties. The time period also includes four new national regional medical center projects. Test results from public hospitals at or above the secondary level are now shared and recognized across the city's medical institutions.
