As more tourists flock to China this year, mobile payment has thus become a new trend for foreigners to enjoy their stay in the country. Starting from December 17th, eight overseas wallets have been introduced for foreign visitors to the Chinese mainland, aiming to offer more diverse and convenient payment options.

WeChat Pay, in collaboration with UnionPay International, has recently expanded its support to include overseas wallets such as Bank of China (Hong Kong) BoC Pay, Octopus, PayMe by HSBC, Tap & Go in Hong Kong, Bangkok Bank Mobile Banking, K PLUS in Thailand, NAVER Pay in South Korea, and ICBC Mobile Banking (ICBC Pay) in Malaysia. Users of these overseas wallets can now directly use their wallet apps to scan WeChat Pay's QR codes for payment upon entering the Chinese mainland, with the local currencies automatically converted to RMB. 
WeChat Pay has announced plans to broaden its service scope by establishing partnerships with more than 10 overseas institutional wallets. This expansion includes countries and regions such as South Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia.
